THE ROLE OF ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES IN MAINTAINING FUTURE TEACHERS’ INTEREST IN RESEARCH

The university curriculum plays a role in motivating students to take up research. This 2-year action research explored the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and its influence on student further engagement work. data were collected from University Master's through two questionnaires given them before after studying course. An explanatory framework course characteristics that affected students’ attitudes towards focused upon profile (the age, gender, major language proficiency), career orientation orientation. shift reinforced complexity of factors influenced their motivation graduation. authors draw conclusion future interventions address issues with raise interest should deal restructuring way have more contact hours. analysis learning materials designed EAP shows most introduce theory- research-informed perspectives guide putting theory use real-world contexts which would be impossible 30 hours as analysed case. Moreover, it linked school practice small-scale real classroom settings.
